The club has approximately 240 members: a mix of relatively inexperienced gardeners, gardeners who have recently taken up residence on the island, and those who have been members for many years.

All enjoy the camaraderie and the opportunity for sharing gardening knowledge and skills. Memberships, based on the calendar year, are due by January 1st and may be paid at monthly meetings, where a membership card and number will be issued.

You may also join or renew your membership by mailing a cheque to the membership chairperson:

Please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you wish to have your membership card mailed to you. An application form for membership is available.

Membership rates are as follows:

$ 20 per year for individuals
$ 25 per year for a family
$ 10 per year for students

Benefits of Membership

Newsletter – published a minimum of 10 times per year; full of information, tips and upcoming events.

Library – books, magazines and video tapes available free to all members.

Garden Tours – members open their gardens for other members to visit and learn.

Bus Tours – a variety of trips to various island gardens, garden centres and special events. Occasionally trips are a little further away (on distant shores).

Discounts – generally 10% offered by local merchants.

Plant Sales and Exchanges – presented on special tables at the meetings as well as a major public plant sale in April and an Auction at the October meeting.

In addition, there is socializing and support, and a chance to win prizes at all the meetings.
